Hands-on healing has existed since the ancient times of Buddha and Jesus. For thousands of years, humans have instinctively placed their hands on areas of their body when experiencing stomachaches, headaches, and injuries, not as a conscious, but as an instinctual reaction to pain and distress. We all possess this natural ability to offer healing energy through our hands — it’s part of our birthright as human beings. Anyone can easily learn how to bring forth their innate energy healing abilities to benefit themselves, their loved ones, friends and pets by completing a Reiki Level I Training.
Our innate ability as humans to heal ourselves and help others to heal is grounded in the scientific fact that we are all inter-connected in a vast sea of universal life energy and matter. Scientists of quantum physics long ago discovered that every particle is connected to every other particle in the universe. The same is true for humanity — nobody is separate or set apart — we all come from the same Source. Physicists also found that our bodies are not solid entities, but interacting fields of matter and universal life energy (ki), in constant creative fluctuation that configure and re-configure who we are in ourselves, our relationships and in the world. In addition, we have a human energy field (aura) which surrounds our physical body and is comprised of levels or densities that not only interact within us, but also between us as humans and our environment. Therefore, our life energy can be affected and transformed positively or negatively by the energy of our environment, the people around us, by our own thoughts and feelings, and by the activities we choose on a daily basis. This means that our levels of life energy and states of health and wellness can be affected and transformed positively when receiving a treatment from an energy healing method such as Reiki.
When a person receives a Reiki treatment, it is offered by the practitioner from a place of non-judgment, unconditional love, and compassion as they set intent that the recipient will receive what they need for their highest good. They then become a conduit and channel for Reiki’s healing spiritual energy to flow freely through their hands, which are either lightly touching or held just above the body. Because Reiki only flows one way and cannot back up, the practitioner is protected from taking on any unhealthy energy or issues from the recipient.
The healing energy is drawn into the body by the recipients’ cells, tissues and organs and is guided to where it is needed. The practitioner’s own energy is not used. The healing energy flows into the recipient’s body through “nadis” which are energetic threads through which the vital life energy flows and is transmuted into forms usable for optimal metabolic functioning of the body-mind system. Nadis connect to the six major nerve plexuses of the body and the endocrine glands. The nerve plexuses are nerve points that come together within the nervous system influencing our patterns of rest and activity and stabilize mental and emotional functioning. The endocrine system is primarily responsible for chemical homeostasis of the body and works to balance the body’s physical energy as our digestive system takes in biochemical energy and molecular building blocks from the foods we eat.
The person receiving a Reiki treatment is always in charge of their own healing. The recipient doesn’t need to do anything except relax and allow Reiki to flow where it’s needed. When Reiki is offered, it revitalizes the ki in the body, making it stronger so it can flow freely again and clear out any stagnant energy that has accumulated and is causing imbalances. Then in conjunction with the increased flow of ki, the body can eliminate physical toxins through it’s natural elimination avenues and body fluids flushing them out. Programmed for health, the body’s own innate wisdom, suppored by Reiki’s healing intelligence, is able to self-right itself back to a state of balance. Once the recipient’s ki is again flowing freely and the stagnant energy and physical toxins have been removed, they feel healthier, happier and more at peace.
